Alberto Carretero Aguado (Seville, 1985)

Alberto Carretero Aguado was born in 1985 in Seville (Spain), where he started his piano studies at seven years old in the Elementary Conservatory of Music "Triana". He achieved the Extraordinary Award in this degree in 1998. In 2001, the City Council of Seville gave him the Best Student Achievement and Personal Career Award. In 2003, he received the Professional Certificate of Piano in the Professional Conservatory of Music "Francisco Guerrero", with honours.

A year later, he started his composition studies at the Higher Conservatory of Music "Manuel Castillo" (Seville) under the tutelage of Luis Ignacio Marín, J.A. Pedrosa and Antonio J. Flores; he concluded his studies in 2007 with Honours and the Extraordinary Award in Composition. In 2009 he finished his Degree in History and Music Sciences at the University of La Rioja. He has worked in specialized courses under the maestros Mauricio Sotelo, José María Sánchez-Verdú, Jesús Rueda, José Manuel López López, Cristóbal Halffter, César Camarero, Alberto Posadas, Martín Matalón, Eduardo Polonio, Kaija Saarho, Philippe Hurel, Salvatore Sciarrino, among others. It is worth mentioning that among the prizes he has recently obtained, those of greatest interest are the 2008 "Real Maestranza de Caballería of Seville" Award and the 2009 "Injuve" Contemporary Music Composition Award.

He has presented his compositions at the National Auditorium of Music, Fine Arts Circle of Madrid, University of Seville, University of Cadiz, Molina de Segura Municipal Auditorium (Murcia), Higher Conservatory of Music of Seville, The Exhibition Center of Seville, St. Francis' Church (Villafranca del Bierzo, León), Conference Centre of Valladolid, "Triana" Elementary Conservatory of Music (Seville), Los Palacios y Villafranca Municipal Theatre (Seville), and so on. His works have been played by Alberto Rosado (piano), "Taller Sonoro", "Dhamar" Group, "Grup Instrumental de València", etc. His works have also been recorded by the National Radio of Spain (Classical Radio) and "Radio Círculo".
In the field of new technologies, he has collaborated in the electroacoustic music of "Paso Project" (video, dance and on-line music performance) with the International Biennial of Conterporary Art of Seville. He has been lecturer at the First Conference of Contemporary Music at the University of Seville in 2006, and he holds the Higher Degree of Computer Science Engineering from the University of Seville, with honours for his Final Project on "image sonification" and topology of sound.

During the year 2009/2010, he holds the Chair of Composition in the Royal Higher Conservatory of Music of Madrid, and he gives courses in "Composition" and "Instrumentation and Orchestration".
